VERDACOMB is an original graphic novel written and illustrated by Dan Berry. Since August 2009, Dan has been deeply invested in the development of characters and story lines set within the Verdacomb System, a futuristic dystopian society enslaved not only by virtual and augmented distractions, but also institutionalized war.
Each year the Four Nations gather for the Harvest Game - an electromagnetic death match held in an ancient stone arena - to decide who wins the surplus of their collective harvest. Volunteers, usually farmers or desperate exiles, battle using Orb Suits to capture the white, monolithic pillar in their Nation's corner.
But the game is rigged and the system is corrupt, and Berdini, a lone renegade, has seen enough. With the help of his friends Denuva and Napeen, he sets into motion a plan to expose the corruption and wake up their society to the nefarious schemes at play in their world. Yet before Denuva can join the plan to blow the whistle, he must overcome his addiction to technology in order to pursue the truth behind his own mysterious past.
Will they succeed, or will the people of Verdacomb continue to revel in their virtual slumber?

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to fund a 2000-print run of our 200-page 8.5x11 Hardcover Volume One - it will feature high quality 80lb paper and a 95lb scuff-resistant cover with spot UV gloss, and will be produced in Canada. 75% of our budget will be spent on the books and freight. The final 25% is reserved for producing and shipping additional rewards, including the virtual edition USB wafers, art prints, 3D Orb Suit Prints, VERDACOMB city sweatshirts, and Part One of our companion graphic novel, TOFUZILLA.
We anticipate completing production and shipping rewards in time for the 2016 Holiday season - VERDACOMB Volume One would make a great gift for that special comic lover in your life!
For the first time you can own TOFUZILLA Part One, in single issue format, as a reward in our campaign. The idea for TOFUZILLA came to be a few months before I designed the first Orb Suit, acting as a companion, time-travel story! Below is a sample of Part One:

This is a new long term project I am going to develop while continuing into Book One of Verdacomb.
Issue 1 will be complete March 1st and available to order in its first limited print run! Pages 1-40 are uploaded on the official website already! Check it out!
Over the weekend, Verdacomb had a booth at the Portland Wizard World Comic Con. We completely SOLD OUT of Preview Comics, which contained the first 32 pages of Chapter One. My 3D Printed Collectable prototypes, modelled in Z-Brush by Adler Romero and printed via Replicator 2 by Alix Morle, really helped people understand the forms of the Orb Suit and how a pilot fits inside. I am now wrapping up Chapter One and will start drawing pages for Chapter Two, which will begin my weekly update release schedule in April. Check out the Facebook page for updates and follow me on Instagram for production shots! @verdacomb_
I just uploaded the Pages 29-30 spread on the Art Portal!
You can catch up on Chapter One in my NG gallery or at the links below!
Here is a look at Page 31 progress!
Hey everyone! I have submitted the first 18 pages as a preview to Chapter One of VERDACOMB Book One! You can see them on my profile or in the Art portal. There are 9 spreads uploaded with a panoramic of the Harvest Game Arena. Below is the Pages 19-20 spread that I will submit to the portal tomorrow. I reached my daily limit!
I've been busy adding detail to the first 16 pages, which are now available on the official site and in this album of spreads.
Eventually I would like Verdacomb.com to display the pages as spreads because that is how they were designed.
In January 2014 I will be in the Small Press section of Wizard World Comic Con in Portland. By then I should have Chapter One complete and available for sale in a limited print. I will have posters, t-shirts, and free stickers as well. More importantly I will have the prototypes for the Orb Suit 3D Printed Collectible; a hand painted limited edition figurine designed in Z-Brush and printed on a Makerbot Replicator2. It is a collaborative work by Adler Romero, Alix Morle, and myself. I plan on reproducing the figures by casting molds at some point next year.
If you haven't already, go over to the Verdacomb facebook and like it for updates!
In the coming months VERDACOMB.COM will debut a graphic novel series four years in the making, and it is only the beginning! Three friends, Denuva, Berdini, and Napeen, prepare to confront the Verdacomb system by exposing the corruption of the harvest Game.
Make sure to check out Verdacomb on Facebook for updates and sneak peeks!
